At the time of this interview, Vickie was on the verge of becoming a talk show host for a local TV station in Maine. Her keen expertise in setting up the venue was a great learning experience for me. She threatened to turn the table around and interview me on her own show in Maine in the future. I’m from Seattle, and Washington State and Maine are often considered cousins for climate and lifestyle. Due to our similar lifestyles and since we’re both mystery and thriller writers, interviewing Vickie was a warm and friendly experience, like sitting around the table at a family gathering. Vickie is a real estate agent. Her fiction deals with real estate and property, and her non-fiction with living in Maine. As the interview progressed, I realized that Vickie writes about the fundamental human desire to belong, to have ownership, to stake a claim, to set roots in the earth, and to be a part of something bigger than yourself. This is a great theme for mysteries and thrillers, because pursuing this noble quest is bound to leave a few dead bodies scattered along the way. Hey, we’re only human!
Enjoy,
